Discovering Slovenia & Croatia in 8 days

First day

Arrival on Venice, Trieste or Ljubljana airport

You will be welcomed at airport by your local guide and transferred by coach to your hotel in Ljubljana.

Have the rest of the day free to recover from your long flight.

*depending on your flight arrival lunch may be included in centrally located restaurant in Ljubljana or in the hotel.

Second day 

Ljubljana – Bled Lake

After breakfast in the hotel you will discover Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. During a 2 hour city tour you will be able to visit the square of the greatest Slovene poet, France Prešern, typical architecture of the secession style, Franciscan’s church, old food-market place, Cathedral, Dragon’s bridge…

After lunch in a local restaurant you will visit Bled Lake. Bled comes complete with a sweeping alpine panorama, fairy-tale island, cliff-hanging medieval castle, lakeside promenade, and the country`s most sought-after desserts. Upon arrival in Bled you will enjoy a “pletna” boat ride out to the picturesque three-covered island in the middle of Lake Bled and later a visit to Bled Castle which used to be a seat of the Austrian Bishops of Brixen. The old castle features a museum, a tiny frescoed chapel, a working printing press from Gutenberg`s time, a wine cellar, herbal gallery and the most rewarding view of the Bled town, the lake and the island.
In the early evening hours return in Ljubljana for a dinner in the hotel.

Third day

Ljubljana – Postojna Caves – Istria 

After breakfast in the hotel and check out you will depart for Postojna to visit the famous Postojna Cave. The Postojna Cave is a complex of 20 kilometers of tunnels filled with stalactites, galleries and halls into which experienced guides have led more than 35 milion visitors during the 185 years.

This is the biggest Karts cave and the most visited tourist cave in Europe operated by a cave train.
Only 9 kilometers from Postojna Cave, built high into the cliff face, the Predjama Castle rules over its surroundings which will be your next sightseeing point.
After visiting Postojna Caves tours go on to meet Istria. The peninsula of Istria delights the visitor by its lovely landscapes, forests, vineyards and olive groves, as well as by little charming coastal towns and villages perched atop hills.

Fourth day

Around Istria

After breakfast in the hotel you will discover Istria

You will see medieval towns encircled by ramparts, situated on picturesque hilltops offering a fascinating view of the surrounding valley, fields, and mountains.

You will visit Grožnjan and Livade where truffle tasting is organized. After tasting we continue to Motovun, sightseeing and free time, and at the end of day you will visit city of Pula.

The Roman Amphitheatre, the sixths biggest in all over the world is waiting on you to discover it along with August’s Temple, antique City Walls, the Golden Gate and other monuments of the antique past.

Fifth day
Plitvica lakes 
After breakfast in the hotel and check out you will depart to National Park Plitvica Lakes, the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia.

Breathtaking waterfalls, wonderfull nature and crystal clear water are waiting for you to discover it.

The area is populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and some rare bird species and the thick forest vegetation of beech trees, fir spruce and white pine adds another element to the park’s beauty.

Sixth day 

Zadar

After breakfast, you will drive to the walled city of Zadar. For centuries Zadar was the capital city of Dalmatia and today the main city of northern Dalmatia. A city with a rich heritage of world importance, visible at every step. You will take an afternoon sightseeing tour of this splendid walled city and see the Roman Forum built in the 1st-Century and St. Donatus’ Church, which dates back to the 9th century and is the most famous medieval basilica and trademark of the city.

You will also see the reconstructed Romanesque St. Grisigono’s Church from the 12th century; the St. Mary’s bell tower from the year 1105; the St. Anastasia’s Cathedral from the 13th century; the People’s Square with the City’s Lodge, and Guardhouse from the 16th century, as well as the mighty fortification walls with first class Sea(farer’s) and Land gates from the 16th century. Lastly, you will visit the Three and Five Wells Squares.

Seventh day

From Zadar to Opatija

After breakfast you will depart to Opatija, elegant tourist destination.

Opatija  lies at the centre of the Riviera with the longest tradition of tourism in Croatia.

Built mainly at the turn of the 20th century, Opatija has remained in complete harmony with Nature right up until the present day.

Well-maintained public gardens, the illuminated 12-km-long coastal promenade known as the “Lungomare”, well-kept beaches and fountains provide a stunning backdrop for the villas and hotels.

Eight day

Depending to flight departure transfer from Opatija to airport.
